The Perfect Blend ✨ Joyful Work and Summer Adventures

Wow! What a jam packed summer in Seattle!

Knowing that I'm moving away for good soon meant getting it all in this summer - time with friends, epic hikes and bike rides and, of course, my Mount Rainier summit attempt in early July.

Training for this climb started last fall. I hiked 1-2 times/week, increasing elevation and pack load each month. I even went to Camp Muir three times with a full pack to get the feel for it in the weeks leading up to the climb.

But, as my sports doctor summed it up, I got "unlucky" on the actual climb day. Unexpected knee pain that started after Ingraham Flats was likely driven by an unlucky combination of terrain (snow, rock), crampons, elevation and my 40 pound backpack. I made it to the top of Disappointment Cleaver and turned around as a safety measure for me and the rest of the team. But it was still an amazing experience and one I'll never forget.

On top of an active summer, I've been rebuilding my business post-sabbatical and continue to support leaders and organizations going through transitions. Some of the engagements I've been working on include:

  • Working with a nonprofit director on navigating a board transition and creating their first strategic plan

  • Supporting a law firm during a phase of fast growth with team effectiveness work

  • Coaching a disillusioned job seeker to help them land their dream role

  • Advising a CEO on stabilizing the organization amidst change

  • Working with a leadership team to improve their communication and decision making skills with one another

  • Creating a leadership development program for senior level women to increase their influence and impact

This is the type of work that brings me joy - partnering with individuals and companies to maximize their contribution and have fun while doing it.

I'm fortunate to have the perfect blend of great adventures and joyful work. Life's too short for anything else.
